Now that I'm allergic to soy, I think my burrito eating days are done. I cannot find a single tortilla anywhere that isn't made with soy flour or soy oil.

Is still missed by many. Moe's isn't a good substitute, and Willy's, Raging Burrito, and Burrito Art just don't satisfy the way Tortilla's did. Sigh.

Cleanse time

I've invented a new cleanse!

The name and premise is simple enough: The 5 Day Burrito Cleanse.

If you're thinking. ..."So, all you eat over the course of 5 days is 1 burrito?" You're wrong. There is not set limit to the number of burritos you eat over the course of the 5 days. You could eat 5 a day for all I care. Sure some people would say it's not as healthy as other, more established cleanses. And it's not. I can't argue.

The goal is just to get your body into a burrito rhythm, and to flush all non-burrito substances from your system.

I'm on day 3, and I feel fabulous!

Simple Burritos

Today was simple burrito, comfort food day:

* 1 can of Bush vegetarian baked beans, heated to boiling witih 1/2 tsp red pepper powder
* a BIG handful (read: 1/2 the package) of fresh spinach, sauteed down in a tablespoon of olive oil.
* whole wheat tortillas
* shredded cheese (the sharper, the better)

Add warm beans, spinach, and cheese on top of a hot tortilla and enjoy. Better with garlic in the spinach.

Burrito withdrawal

I moved from the SF Bay Area to Paris a few months ago, and can't stop dreaming of burritos. French food is amazing, but there's not a real Mexican place in sight...I wish FedExing from the Mission would work, but it might get kind of messy.

Fast Food Burro's

Here in Salt Lake we have a bunch of down and dirty fast food burrito joints, pretty much on every corner, I have a fondness for them that I just can't shake, even though sometimes they aren't so hot..the menu's are all basic, and pretty similar, I like (in no particular order) Carnitas Burrito, Chili Rellenos Burrito(like Qiuiche in a tortilla, good "dessert" burrito), bean and cheese burrito, and sometimes Carne Asada(depends on the place, some are pretty shitty.... Some of the names you see around are: Albertos, Beto's, MolcaSalsa...do other places have this phenomena?(I am aware that the Atzlan states- California, Arizona , Neuvo Mexico and Texas do...). If so, what, where?...

Atlanta is being overrun with chain places, many of whom actually make decent burritos. I'm still searching for independents who make good stuff, tho.
